My Sister’s Closet established a policy of giving back from the
day we opened our doors in 1991. We chose to help homeless and abandoned
pets through donations of time, money and unsold inventory. We chose Friends
of Animal Care and Control (FACCs) as our primary beneficiary.
Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (ACCS) saved the lives of
more than 20,000 homeless dogs and cats in 2002. They operate on a shoestring
budget with limited funds. FACCs is dedicated to raising funds to expand
the programs dedicated to saving pets in our community. The primary
mission of the group is ending euthanasia as a means of controlling
pet overpopulation in Maricopa County.
Not all items consigned at My Sister’s Closet, My Sister’s
Attic, Well Suited or Small Change will sell. We donate unsold items
to the FACCs Thrift Store. We then give YOU, the consigner, the donation
receipt.
The clothing and furniture sold at the FACCs thrift store helps people
that may not be able to afford to shop elsewhere and the proceeds help
Arizona’s unwanted pets. This is recycling at its best!
In addition to FACCs, we also support other animal, environmental,
and women’s charities that include:
Nature Conservancy
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Fresh Start
Center Against Sexual Abuse (CASA)
Crisis Nursery
Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL)
